Course Overview

This programme is designed to help the delegates understand the principles of learning and the role of a coach in enabling and developing individual learning.

Course content

By the end of the session delegates will be able to:

  • Recognise the differences between coaching, training and assessing
  • Identify the skills required in terms of coaching
  • Identify training needs
  • Plan for coaching opportunities
  • Identify opportunities to learn and apply learning
  • Identify best methods for learning
  • Understand different learning styles
  • The relationship and links between learning and coaching
  • Recognise barriers to learning
  • Overcome barriers to learning
  • Provide effective feedback
  • Encourage learners to review themselves
  • Check understanding and progress

Short course to refresh employee's skills and update knowledge.

Entry Requirements

People who have been identified as “coach” but need knowledge of the skills and attributes required to be effective in this area.

Delivery & Assessment methods

No formal assessment; Course Length: 1 day. Although this programme can be delivered in 1 day, it is recognised that there is a lot to cover. Accordingly it is available as a 2-day programme, which allows more time for reflection and practice.
