Course Overview

This course is designed (in collaboration with University of Wolverhampton) to provide students with the opportunity to develop both vocational skills and academic knowledge simultaneously. You will learn about the scientific basis of sport and exercise through a balanced academic programme including physiology, biomechanics and sports psychology. Students will learn the fundamentals of training and fitness, enabling students to devise their own exercise programmes and study the main concepts of coaching science.

Entry Requirements

100 points including a minimum of 80 points from 1 A Level, or a Level Three BTEC National in a sports subject or other equivalent Level 3 course in a sports related area. Students should have GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C or above, or Key Skills Communication and Application of Number at Level 2. Mature students will be considered on individual merit by a course interview

Delivery & Assessment methods

Students will be assessed using a range of assessments methods including: presentations, written reports, videos, podcasts, in class tests / exams

Progression

Course graduates can progress onto the final year of the BSc honours Sport and Exercise Science degree at the University of Wolverhampton. Alternatively graduates can pursue a variety of sports careers including public services, coaching, teaching, sport development, personal instructor or sport marketing.
