Course Overview

Graphic Design provides access to information of any kind through the use of pictures, symbols and words. The course offers the opportunity to communicate visually using traditional drawing, painting and mixed media techniques alongside computer-generated imagery. As part of their studies, students may be offered the opportunity to visit galleries and attend cultural events in the UK and abroad.

Course content

The A Level programme will introduce students to the fundamentals of Graphic Design: layout, composition, use of colour and line, encouraging personal exploration of these within each of the areas of specialism.

Coursework 60% of AS, 30% of Advanced GCE, Externally set assessment 40% of AS, 20% of Advanced GCE

Delivery & Assessment methods

Continual coursework assessment throughout the course concluding with a 15 hour practical exam in May.

Progression

A Level Graphic Design (A2) higher education, apprenticeships or employment.

Entry Criteria

We set our admissions criteria to make sure everyone studying with us has the best chance of success.  To study A-Levels with us we ask that you have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grades A* to C including Maths and English.
