Course Overview

The programme is a two-year course designed to introduce students to a wide range of photography disciplines including: portraiture, fashion photography, advertising and promotion, photo-journalism and landscape photography. The first year is a broad introduction to the subject, and year 2 is a focus on developing a pathway in which to specialise. Both digital and darkroom approaches will be explored and industry awareness will be developed through extensive collaborative and live project opportunities.
Good technical ability is developed together with a strong visual sense. Students are encouraged to embrace current trends and apply their ideas in a creative and individual way.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of four GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Mathematics (or equivalent), or First Diploma with Merit grade in Art and Design, plus a portfolio of art work. Students with a Pass grade will be considered subject to an additional assessment and/or supporting reference from tutor/school.

Delivery & Assessment methods

Assessment is carried out throughout the programme and is coursework-based. On going feedback in each lesson is complimented with written interim and summative assessment for each subject of each project brief.

Progression

Foundation Art and Design programmes, higher education, or employment.
