Course content
Full time students will study the following modules: Level 1 Personal study skills Molecular basis of disease Chemistry for forensic science Introduction to forensic science Evidence recovery and packaging Introduction to analysis Forensic science and the law Level 2 Food biochemistry and analysis vocational assignment (biosciences) forensic biology Forensic science practicals (studied at Wolverhampton university campus) Crime scene investigation Spectroscopic methods for forensic science Chemical evidence Part Time students will study the following modules: Level 1 Personal study skills Introduction to forensic science Evidence recovery and packaging Forensic science and the law Chemistry for forensic science Vocational assignment Level 2 Intro to analysis Vocational assignment Forensic biology Molecular basis of disease Physical evidence Chemical evidence Level 3 Forensic science practicals Physical evidence CSI project introduction module
Entry Requirements
Typically, Two A2 subjects at grade D or above, including at least one A2 Level in a science-based subject (usually chemistry or biology), or a Pass in a science-based advanced GNVQ/VCE or a Pass in a science-based BTEC national certificate.
Progression
Successful completion of the higher national diploma allows progression to the third year of the forensic science degree programme at the University of Wolverhampton.
