Students with disabilities
Birmingham Metropolitan College welcomes applications from all students. We consider each application individually and aim to provide our students with high quality tuition and support. Information regarding a student disability will be dealt with sensitively and prospective students are advised to disclose a disability or medical condition, mental illness or learning difficulty which may affect their learning.
The College supports the rights of students with learning difficulties/disabilities to attend the College and receive support as appropriate. Learners with learning difficulties/disabilities may be entitled to additional support to that normally provided for the course.
Please call 0121 446 4545 ext. 8111 for individual course access/availability.
Wheelchair access is possible at all our campuses.
Independent Living Skills
We offer the opportunity for students to improve the skills and competences that they need to further independence in adult life. Where appropriate, all students will work towards the Essential Skills Award (ESA). This will form the basis of their learning programme. Students with learning disabilities learn best through real activities and practical tasks of relevance and interest to them. The different courses, regardless of the subject, will all focus on the skills required by that individual to progress successfully onto the next stage of their life with increased confidence and self-esteem.
